Mon. Feb. 25 You know Mike Rivard from the genre-scrambling collective he fronts called Club d'Elf, but he's been playing a Monday night gig this month that wraps up Feb. 25. He emailed us recently to e xplain: "I've had the pleasure of playing with Duke Levine's band on Mondays at a really cool place in Cambridge called Atwoods Nice vibe, good food, great folks, and Liam, one of the best bartenders around. What's not to like? Duke is taking February off so I'll be picking up the Monday nights, and am really excited about the chance to work with a couple of great musicians - Roberto Cassan & Matt Glover - in a cool, somewhat new project. We've done occasional gigs over the past couple of years under the imaginative moniker of Rivard, Cassan & Glover (we're looking for new name) and have a lot of fun playing different "world music" from all over this big old globe of ours, including trance music from Turkey & North Africa, Argentinean tangos by Astor Piazolla, songs by the great Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal, Irish reels, Bulgarian dance music...you get the picture. It's been a lot of fun for me and I hope you can come down and check it out. Did I mention it's free? Starts at 9. 877 Cambridge St, Cambridge 617-864-2792. www.atwoodstavern.com.
