Springtime for Titler? Well, It's the Dead of Winter, but ... Print E-mail

Sun. Jan. 27

Our dj pal, Brother Cleve - he plays in the band Dragonfly and has a regular dj gig at ZuZu! on Thursdays - is booking the Beehive. And he's got this event called "Tittler's Oddville" coming to the popular South End spot Sunday Jan. 27 at 10. What's it all about Cleve? "About 8 years ago, my buddy Dave gave me a copy of a film he worked on entitled Titler. 'What's it about?,' I queried. 'It's about 5 minutes,' he answered. Really, what else could one say. After watching it, we watched it again....and  again....and again....in a state of disbelief. How could you describe a 5 minute film in which a cross-dressing furher sings often lewd versions of show tunes and classical pieces! Over the years, Tittie and I have become pals, so when he told me he was preparing an orchestral show, the tag line hit me -- "Titler Sings, This Time With Strings!" -- and I said "I'll produce it at The Beehive!" And so we have 'Titler's Oddville,' a kind of New Vaudeville, with a twist. Tits brings along some of his extra-ordinary friends, like the one and only Red Peters ("B%#w Me", "If You See Kay", "How's Your Whole....Family"), To Yo-Yo Family, and comedian Shane Mauss, and lord only knows what else" along with him. Tickets: $10. Need we add, adults only. Well, darn it, kids shouldn't be up that late anyway.
