Sun. Jan. 20

Really, we expect you to do what we're going to do today. That's watch football. The Pats are on at 3 on CBS (Channel 4 locally)- the game, not the pregame chinwagging - and then the Giants - our favorite team growing up - after that. A Pats-Giants Superbowl? Kind of horrifying to think of for those of who grew up watching the NFL broadcasts of the lowly Giants and cringing at the even worse antics of the AFL and the Boston, yes Boston, Patriots. We know we're Pats fans now, and we predict they'll soundly beat the wounded Chargers in the brutal cold ... and we'll probably root for the Giants over the Packers, too, just because, nostalgia (and childhood fandom) dies hard. You know where the sports bars are; you know where your couch and telephone are - for delivered pizza - and considering the temperatures, this is one day we're suggesting being a shut-in might not be the worst thing to be. Bettors: The Pats are 13 1/2 point favorites and the smart money is betting they won't cover. For what it's worth. (In photo, stroke survivor and team leader, among many, linebacker Tedy Bruschi.)
