Saturday Sept. 16-21 It seems almost sport in these parts - maybe especially in these parts - to dump on Ben Affleck's acting, but he may have etched his best performance yet as George Reeves, TV's "Superman." Diane Lane is superb as his girl on the side and the wife of the Hollywood mogul played by Bob Hoskins. Reeves's gunshot death was officially ruled a suicide, but questions persisted and there are a few possibilities tried out by private dick Adrien Brody in "Hollywoodland." This is a dimly lit and slow-moving film, and one may squirm at the end when no hard-and-fast resolution is offered. But consider director Allen Coulter's movie a meditation on fame, youth and typecasting: Reeves had a measure of fame, fading youth and faced severe typecasting. It says something about Hollywood and says something about us. It's up through Thursday at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, and it's also up at the Loews Harvard Square Theatre, Regal Fenway 13, and various other spots. Check with theater for showtimes. Tickets should be $9-$9.50 Coolidge, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 617-734-2500, Harvard Square,10 Church St., Cambridge, 617-864-4580 and Regal 13,, 201 Brookline Ave., Boston, 617-424-6266
