Sun. Jan. 6 Boston's a tradition-minded town and two of our best are baseball and rock 'n' roll. Peter Gammons (in photo) - Baseball Hall of Famer and ESPN baseball guru - figured that o ut some time ago when he (and others) put together "Hot Stove Cool Music," a Paradise show that mixed Sox jocks and rock guys and gals who loved the game. And the crowd came. And came. And came. We've been to most of them, and they're a ton of fun, from the Q/A stuff with Gammons to to the rockin' from, well, sayj Kay Hanley, who was there - the Paradise - at the beginning and will be there again Sunday Jan. 6. The former Letters to Cleo lead singer (and current Hannah Montana backup singer!) doesn't even live in Quincy anymore. She and her family live in L.A., but this is a cause true to her heart. (Oh, yes, it's a fundraiser for the Red Sox Foundation. Tickets are $40.) Others playing this show: Dropkick Murphys singer-bassist Ken Casey, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones Dicky Barrett, Lori McKenna, Dear Leader, Eli "Paperboy" Reed & the True Loves, French Lick (that's Celtic co-owner Wyc Grousbeck's band), the Elan Trotman Band and the Murder Capital of the World. And, of course, Gammons - as both guitarist and Sox expert - and his bud, former Little Feat guitarist Paul Barrere. And, we can't forget former Sox pitcher and Hot Stove vet singer-guitarist Bronson Arroyo and the guy who traded him away, g.m./guitarist Theo Epstein. We have no idea of the order or who'll jam with who but it gets underway at 7, and when the Sox won the World Series in 2004, Epstein and company brought along the trophy for people to have their photos taken with (for $25, charity). We're guessing that's a pretty good bet this year, as well. (Only disappointment in the booking: No current rockin' Red Sox players slated ... ) Your host: Once again, comic Mike O'Malley. 967 Commonwealth Ave, 617-562-8800 www.thedise.com
