You can take real heat for being an ABBA fan. Especially if you take the music straight up, missing the kitsch and camp. But ABBA was a guilty pleasure for us in the mid-'70s and then when the Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten came out and said he loved ABBA, we breathed a sigh of ... something. At any rate, "Mamma Mia!," the show that uses ABBA songs to drive the story forward (or backward or sideways, as the case may be) is back, although you'll have to go to Providence's Performing Arts Center to see it. A couple of reasons: The songs do stick like glue and you have to respect the real ABBA for turning down a $1 billion offer to reunite and tour because, Bjorn Ulvaeus said to us, they weren't all exactly in fighting shape - hence, part of his reason for endorsing this. Also: There may not be a better breakup song in pop than "Knowing Me, Knowing You," a "Mamma Mia!" highlight. Now, the story is something of a stretch, but it's just there to link the songs and you're not going to mind.Tickets: $70-$43.
