Wed. Nov. 14 "Go for it!" This was a rallying cry from a Stiff Little Fingers song, back in the early days of punk rock. May we echo that urge now, in 2007, as Stiff Little Fi ngers returns to what's become a fairly regular haunt, the Paradise? They're there tonight, Wednesday Nov. 14. Now, when we say "they" we mean singer-songwriter-guitarist Jake Burns and we're not quite sure what the rest of the lineup is. We do know that the last studio music we heard from SLF was not at all a letdown (in the semi-usual old-punk way), and it packed a punch that felt very, well, au courant. And the old stuff? Well, if hearing "Alternative Ulster" and "Suspect Device" don't bring a bit of a chill, something's a bit off. If you're a Dropkick Murphys fan and have only heard of Stiff Little Fingers because of the Murphys, do yourself a favor and check them out tonight. Bonus: They will be playing the entirety of "Inflammable Material," the first album from where the aforementioned songs come from. It was the album that got them tagged as Ireland's answer to the Clash. That's a compliment. This, by the way, is their 30th anniversary tour, or at least Jake's. Tickets: $16. The show starts at 8 p.m. with the Rivals. 967 Commonwealth Ave., 617-562-8800 www.thedise.com
