Monday, Sept. 18 Adolescence. Who among us would go through it again? Sure, we live in much more high-tech world - heck today's teenagers use TVs with remote controls! - but the traumas and dramas remain the same. Peer pressure. Appearance. Dating - and what to do or not do on a date. Not being popular enough to date Cliques. Drugs. Booze. The pressure to get A's so you can get into the best college so you can get the best job so you can make the most money so you can have the best life. That sort of stuff. Brookline resident Joy Dryfoos is an expert on teenage wildlife - there are 33 million adolescents in America now - and in the book she and Carol Barkin wrote, "Adolescence: Growing Up in America Today," they advocate change in almost every aspect of how adults and educators react to the problems adolescents face. See if you agree. Dryfoos speaks at Brookline Booksmith Monday Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Free 279 Harvard St., Brookline, 617-566-6660 brooklinebooksmith.com
