And then were two ... The Who Print E-mail
Saturday, 16 September 2006

                                                                                         Saturday Sept. 16

Of course, there will be many more players on stage at the TD Banknorth Garden Saturday Sept. 16 than just Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. But with Keith Moon long deceased and John Entwistle - who we knew and loved - passed on because of a stupid cocaine overdose, Rog and Pete carry the Who torch. Should they? Well, we saw their first show without Entwistle and as odd as it should have seemed, it didn't feel that way. And the catalog songs - from "Tommy" and "Quardrophenia," "Magic Bus'' and many more - stirred us, at times, to the point of tears. Perhaps, it was recalling what these songs meant to us early in life and, dammit, still mean when played out live and loud in front of us. We'll get that chance again at 7:30 p.m. Now, the Who have a new disc - their first new material disc in 24 years - coming Oct. 31. It's called "Endless Wire,'' and it includes a six-song mini-opera, "Wire & Glass" based on Townshend's novella "The Boy Who Heard Music.'' What will they play from the unheard record? How much do we want. Who knows?
Tickets: An impossible $202-$52.
