Bitch is Back ... in P-Town Print E-mail
Monday, 08 October 2007

 Mon. Oct. 8

Are you thinking of spending the holiday weekend in Provincetown? Then, make it a point to head to the Post Office Cabaret for one of Bitch's concerts which wrap up Monday Oct. 8. Bitch who made three albums with Animal (yes, as Bitch and Animal), spent two years recording her solo debut, "Make This/Break This." It's a record that's both confrontational and atmospheric; full of anger and joy. She's a terrific wordsmith and quite a violinist, to boot. With her mix of singing and speaking and her use of poetry-as-song, she recalls Patti Smith. On the record, she goes after gay-bashing, Bush, the witch hunts of yore, which leads into a song where takes the side of executed serial killer Aileen Wuornos, painting the Florida hooker-killer as a victim of her upbringing and her trip through "the system." Stylistically, Bitch is all over the map - there's even a little C & W in her - and she'll take you on the trip. The Indigo Girls' Amy Ray calls her a woman with "a serious vision, but she is not afraid to be irreverent, and she is not afraid to entertain." (If you can't get to P-Town, Bitch plays the Iron Horse in Northampton Nov. 1.) Show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets: $17.75
