Sat. Oct. 6

Anywhere David Yow goes, I will follow. All right, maybe not everywhere, but the former singer for the Jesus Lizard joined up with the L.A. band Qui late last year and Qui (in photo) is headlining the Middle East Upstairs Saturday Oct. 6. The group started as a duo - guitarist/vocalist Matt Cronk and drummer/vocalist Paul Christensen in 2000. Their oeuvre? Punk/metal/art/noise. Add the Iggy Pop-esque Yow to the mix and musical mayhem - we mean that in a good way - is almost a certainty. Adding punch to this bill is Neptune, the experimental Boston trio that employs electric guitars and scrap metal parts found in the trash to create an industrial landscape that seems perfect for a "Road Warrior" kind of world. Opener Black Helicopter travels deep, dark territory, too. Throbbing bass lines and forays into the inner turbulence of the mind. An evening not for the easy listening fan. Starts at 9. Tickets: $10.
