Sun. Sept. 30 We've always had a fondness for the so-called "post-rock" sound that came out of Chicago, and the Sea and the Cake has been one of the primary bands of that scene, releasing their first disc back in 1994. Now, the group, led by singer-gui tarist Sam Prekop and bassist Eric Claridge, hasn't alway been active - that is their latest (and lovely) disc "Everybody," came out a full four years after the last one, "One Bedroom." (It's not a case of anyone taking a long slumber; the band members pursued other projects in the interem.) But the Sea and Cake - which blends dual guitar leads and adds jazzy touches to music that can is often calming and intimate - is back among us, at the Museum of Fine Arts Remis Auditorium Sunday Sept. 30. (The MFA is becoming venue-of-choice for adult-oriented rock bands who want to move out of the club scene, but aren't quite big enough for concert halls like the Orpheum. The only thing we don't like about Remis is it's open-seating and that first come, first served thing can be a pain the ass, making you line up for way too long. On the other hand, the acoustics are great and even the view from the back is not too shabby. Meg Baird opens the Sunday show at 7:30. Tickets: $18. 465 Huntington Ave., 617-369-33000 www.mfa.org
