Thurs. April 17 The Fireplace in Brookline is always trying to get a little music into the night-time dining experience. In July, owner Jim Solomon began a series called Latin Music T hursday. The band that started the series, the Cuban Jazz Project, is back Thursday April 17 at 9:30. Tony Betancourt, (in photo) guitarist of the Cuban Jazz Project, says, "We've been playing two years. I was born in Cuba and most of the guys are Cuban, except bassist Baron Browne, who's played with Billy Cobham, and Jean-Lu Ponty (among others). We play some orginals, Latin jazz and Cuban funk thing, It's an all-instrumental five piece. It's our 'musical' music hobby." Free. This week: an open jam on the Cuban funk side of things, with Aaron Bellamy, Sam Kinniger's bassist sitting in with Sam, Tony and the others. 1634 Beacon St.,Brookline, 617-975-1900 www.fireplacerest.com
