We're not sure if this is a tradition in other towns, but in Boston a lot of rock bands like shedding their identity and putting on another's skin. You know, the way kids act on Halloween, except with guitars and attitude. The Middle East Upstairs has one of these affairs happening, Tuesday Oct. 30. It features Liar as the Jesus Lizard and Ho-Ag as Butthole Surfers. These are two of our favorite confrontatinonal,aggressive messed-up-but-make-sense rock bands from the '80s and '90s, and we're curious to see what Liar and Ho-Ag make of it all. Now here's the twist: Liar begins the night and Ho-Ag concludes it, but in the middle it's Why Twist the Hair as ... Simon & Garfunkel. Yep, just to really mess with your mind, a bit of "Cecilia" and "I Am a Rock" in the midst of the noise. Starts at 9, tickets $9.
