Wed. Sept. 26 Demystifying opera. That's one of the goals Opera Boston Underground has. Another is to provide a smashing good time in a very intimate environment. Opera Boston Music Director Gil Rose (in photo) is the host of this subgroup of play ers, which on Wednesday Sept. 26 at the Lizard Lounge includes mezzo Glorivy Arroyo and tenor Christian Figueroa with piano by Angela Gooch. Other company singers will also perform. The program is "Viva! Songs of Spain and Latin America" and it will include songs in Spanish and English. For the company, it's a tune-up for the Boston premiere of Osvaldo Golijov's "Ainadamar," the first program in the Opera Boston mainstage season. Now, these gigs have sold clean in the past, and the hitch here is there are no advance tickets avialble. You've got to stand in line. Doors are at 7 and the show is at 7:30. The tickets are $8. 1667 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-451-3388 www.operaboston.org
