Sun. Aug. 26 Certainly, the phrase "legend of comedy" is over-used, but in Mort Sahl's case, who can argue? The 80-year-old satirist was honored last year at a tribute in L.A. by Bill Maher, Richard Lewis, Albert Brooks, Woody Allen, Jay Leno and Jonathan W inters, among others. And Sahl has been doing political satire long before most of us were born - and still is. He's concluding a rare four-day stand at Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway Sunday August 26 at 3. Some tidbits: Sahl was the first comic to hit Time magazine's cover (1960) - he's also been on Life, Look, Playboy and Vanity Fair, too. He made the very first comedy album and was the first non-musician to win a Grammy. Does he still have it? Well, at a recent political fundraiser, people kept asking him about the Democratic candidates for president and using the "He's just like Kennedy" line. To which, Sahl turned to a waiter and asked, "Is there anyone in the Democratic Party who isn't like Kennedy? Yeah, Ted Kennedy." (Note: Sahl wrote some speeches for JFK.)
