WBCN's Band Camp: Smoke on the Water Print E-mail
Sunday, 12 August 2007

Sun. Aug. 12 The days of WBCN hosting their annual River Rave - once by the Charles, then at Tweeter, then in Foxboro - are evidently past. The larger-scale multi-band shows do not seem to be the draw they once were. We don't know if it's money, the fatigue factor, a shortened attention span, a lack of promotional money on the music industry's part ... or a combination of all of the above. So, WBCN has scaled it back to what they call "WBCN Band Camp," a five-pack of bands playing Bank of America Pavilion Sunday August 12. But it's quite a package. Incubus tops the bill, but New York's the Bravery may have the song of the summer in "Believe," and one of the better albums in "The Sun and the Moon." The always provocative Perry Farrell has his new Satellite Party; Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are the best of neo-psychedelic west coast bands and Township, the opener, won WBCN's Rumble this year. All in all, very good bang for the buck, the buck being $38.50. Starts at 5.
