Fri. July 25 Before they went in the studio to record their "On My Way" CD, the Asbury Park-based Latin/rock band deSol spent time the war zone. Not the kind of "wars" rock bands refer to when they discuss the industry, but the kind of war being fought in the Middle East. deS ol was contracted by the Department of Defense's Armed Forces Entertainmnet Division to bring their worldly music to the many ethnic, racial and cultural mixes serving overseas. After they got back home, they decided to rest up and then record a new reocrd with producer Jon Leidersdorff. Said deSol's singer-guitarist Albie Monterossa, "We've been together for more than six years now and the musical and spiritual bonds between the band members just keeps growing stronger all the time. I think this is by far the ballsiest this band has ever sounded. I'm not kidding - this record rocks!" Judge for yourself on a Boston Harbor Rock and Blues Cruise Friday July 25, when they play with Tim Blane. It boards at 7:30 and costs $28.when the band plays another Boston gig. Starts at 9, tickets $12 Long Wharf, www.rockandbluescruise.com
