Wed. Sept. 12 The last time I saw Cait O'Riordan, she had played with the Pogues in Providence and was sitting backstage, reading a book silently, and trying to partake in as little Pogues-like behavior as possible. Her bass playing and occasional singing - to say nothing of her distaff presence - gave the Pogues something a little extra special. But you gathered maybe she wasn't in it for the long haul. And she wasn't. She left, married Pogues producer Elvis Costello, and was later divorced. I lost track of her musical career, and assumed maybe it had been put to rest. But now comes PreNup. (Mmmm, any Elvis reference there?) PreNup is O'Riordan with Hothouse Flowers guitarist Fiachna O'Braonain and singer Dave Clarke. From what we've heard on-line, it's more Hothouse than Pogues; dramatic/melanchoic rock with an Irish tint. They're putting the finishing touches on their debut CD, "Hell To Pay" and they're on a five-date tour that starts at T.T. the Bear's Wednesday Sept. 12. Show starts at 9 p.m. Opening Christian McNeill & the Redeemers and Paddy Saul. Tickets: $10. 10 Brookline St., Cambridge, 617-492-0082 www.ttthebears.com
