Sat. July 21 Don't let the picture here fool you. No, Prince is not in the house, nor the city, nor the state. Prince is in Las Vegas, where he's set up shop like Wayne Newton. He doesn't travel to play for you; you travel to see him. And pay a pretty penny. Prince w as never about not making money. But the skinny-assed funk-rockster was a daring boundary crosser when those boundaries were much risky to cross - remember "Sister" and "Head" from the second album - and his body of work ultimately will stand up against most anyones. In concert - and we've seen him a dozen or so times - few come close to the electricity, passion, showmanship, tunes. We met him in a Boston club once and, as intimidated as anyone else, mumbled, "Hi, I like your work" and he mumbled "Thanks." Talk about a cataclysmic exchange! Now, we haven't followed all of latest twists and turns but we still like what we hear and we bet you will too at the Coollidge Corner Theatre Saturday July 21 first when you can not just see his videos and hear him, but sing a long! Is this communcal bonding? Or just strange? Well, if you're up at midnight, give it a shot. It's called the "Prince Sing-a-Long." Tickets: $9.75. Should be kinda giddy. 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 617-734-25000 www.coolidge.org
