What Is Behind That Green Door, Anyway? Print E-mail
Aug 23, 2007 at 12:00 AM

Thurs.  Aug. 23

It's the age of XXX Internet entertainment and DVD rentals. Porn in the privacy of your own home, which is the factor that made the adult entertainment industry the mega-industry that it is. Not that it wasn't big in the '70s. It's just you had to watch these dirty movies with ... other people. What if, you know, you were embarrassed or wanted to do something PeeWee-esque, something not allowed in public? The Video Underground brings back those glory days Thursday August 23 with Marilyn Chambers' big hit, "Behind the Green Door," a damn good erotic movie (with plot!) if we remember from back in college.  It's part of their "Backyard Summer Movies" series and they're calling this evening "Dirty Movie Night with Free Cheap Red Wine." Pitch: "Cozy up to watch some classic XXX movies under the stars, plenty of cheap red wine to get you in the mood, pure class ... " Then, they ran out of things to say. Now, the JSInk wino readership is thinking "wowie, free cheap red wine" and wondering how much is cheap? Cheap is only a donation, $5 recommended. The raincoat brigade - if it still exists in this DVD/Internet age - is thinking, "Damn, this is a good deal and there's booze to boot." The ironist is thinking, "What tongue-in-cheek kitsch this is. Bravo. And my isn't porn mainstream nowadays with Britney and her pals showing their privates so casually." And the nozy neighbors are thinking, "My God! They're showing dirty movies in our neighborhood, let's call the police!" They'll be setting up a screen in back of the shop, which moved a couple of doors down from the old place, and letting it rip. Remember to breathe heavilly. The capacity is about 50. Starts at 8.
