Sun. Aug. 12 WWJD? That's got to be one of the more annoying wrist-bands or t-shirts or what-have-yous of the current era. It's so pat, so trite. What Would Jesus Do? Oh, come on. (We did briefly like it whe n WWJD pertained to the Red Sox Johnny Damon, but you know where that all went.) But maybe we just think that because Christianity has been so co-opted by the right wing, we think any right-minded person asking "What would Jesus do?" would blather on about how awful gay marriage was. The reality of it ... might be quite different. It's that premise that the play "Jesus: The Guantanamo Years" takes off upon. That is, the writer-star, Irish comic Abie Philbin Bowman, says that while there's humor in the piece - lots of it - the core concern is Jesus'statement "What you do to the least of my brothers, you also do to me." (Get ready to see Jesus, detained by the Patriot Act, in prison organge.) Philbin Bowman has succeeded in th Edinburgh Fringe Festival and just left London's West End, where Time Out called it "way beyond superficial satire ... absorbing, intricately woven, challenging ... and highly entertaining." The show closes this weekend at Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway. It wraps up tonight, Sunday Aug. 12 at 7:30. Tickets: $20 255 Elm St., Somerville, 617-591-1616 www.jtoffbroadway.com
