                                                                                                   Sat. June 23

We've talked before to Stephen Drury, at the New England Conservatory of Music before about SICPP (aka Sick Puppy), the week-long speil of adventurous music put on (free) all week at the NEC halls. (It wraps up tonight, Saturday June 23.) Drury, the artistic director, always takes pride in these events, which mix genres and styles of instrumentation. This year's event features 58-year-old German composer-pianist Walter Zimmermann, called by musicologist Richard Toop an "ascetist" and a "resolute outsdider." That would seem to fit the bill. Musical selections will include several of Zimmermann's, but also works by Cage, Christian Wolff, Feldman and others.  The final show at Brown Hall starts at 5 p.m. and lasts four-plus hours. Of the this show, the NEC website says you should feel free to come and go as you please.
