Sun. June 10 Ringo. He's been the (lucky) drummer. (Pete Best was the unlucky one.) He's been an imbiber of many illegal substances and a survivor of the same. He's fronted the All-Starr band for many a summer, giving new life to old rockers and allowing a certain legitimacy to the playing of Beatles songs live in concert. And Sunday June 10, he'll be there (in spirit) at a New Gal lery at Brattle & Church streets in Cambridge. It's the final exhibition of a four-day exhibit. In a press release, Ringo said, "I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road." (JSink insertion: Hotels are not inherently crazy. Rock stars who stay in them often get crazy. Rock stars in recovery must find the scenario just a little more tempting than they'd like.) He added, "Most of the titles for my pieces arrived because on computer you have to call them something, so I have. The easy way to look at it is if it has a hat on - it will probably be called Hat Man." (Folks, that's exactly what you're looking at!) Ok, so he's no Joseph Cornell. (See other exhibit item.) Bonus stuff: Videos of Ringo talking about his art and a collection of signed pieces from Starr, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. We'd hesitate to wager what Lennon and Harrison signed stuff is worth now. All the goodies are available for purchase. Ringo's art, at least, is for a cause, going to the Lotus Foundation, which supports dozens of causes including substance abuse, cancer, battered women and animals in need. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! It's called "The Ringo Starr Fine Art Show." Free to get in. Hours: 11 a.m - 6 p.m. Brattle & Church, Harvard Square, Cambridge, rockartshow.com
