Glimmer Twins for the 21st Century: Eddie & Anthony Edwards Print E-mail
Friday, 07 September 2007

Fri.  Sept. 7

Eddie Edwards started it first at age six. He impersonated Lily Tomlin's "Laugh-In" telephone operator Ernestine. Some time later, at Halloween, he dressed up as a woman and somone from "La Cage Aux Folles" asked if he'd ever thought about doing Streisand. A career was about to be born. Eddie does Streisand, Cher, Liza and Bette. He did it on his own for eight years. Eddie's twin brother Anthony took a more circuitious route to the world of impersonation - he detoured through a degree in music and studyig at the San Diego Police Academy. After Carol Burnett suggested they put on a show based on a pair of identical twins that look and sound like the stars, they formed the Edwards Twins, where Anthony handles the guys: Elton John, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel. This is no run-of-the-mill camp act. We've heard and seen clips of these guys and they nail it. People magazine calls them "dynamite .. better than watching the real superstars" (Hmmm, curious, but ... ) and "Entertainment Tonight" gushes that they're a "must-see." They've been doing 250 shows a year and working over ten years. They're at the Showcase Cinema in Revere Friday Sept. 7,  at 8 p.m. Tickets: $35.
