Fri. June 8 We're not sure if we believe this ourselves, but it comes from two reputatble sources: The Institute of Contemporary Art and longtime music maven Joyce Lineh an. The news: Jandek - the essentially unseen but hugely prolific "outsider" musician from Texas - will play a gig at the ICA with three Boston-area musicians Friday June 8. Well, we think that's the case. His own record label is called Corwood - it's released 49 albums with music ranging from weirdo blues to atonal noise - and the materials given the museum about the show indicate "the representative from Corwood will play bass guitar for this performance." (Go ahead and Google Jandek; you'll find all kinds of mysterious stuff.) Jandek first played live in October 2004 at a Glasgow music festival, and has performed but a few times since, never in these parts. We don't know what he looks like - hence no photo. (Somehow, this reminds us of the first time Public image, Ltd. played Boston - behind a backing scrim!) This concert is the first of four in the ICA's summer music program in collaboration with an independent curatorial organization run by DIY promoter Stacie Slotnick. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22. Expect anything. 100 Northern Ave., 617-478-3100 icaboston.org
