Sat. April 14 Grubstake's singer-guitarist Patrick McHugh used to live in these parts, but he pulled up stakes and moved to his hometown, Philadelphia, after the release of 2004's "Dynamite and Other Inventions." McHugh decided to do some reuion shows with original drummer Rocket1000, and had so much fun they went back in the studio to re-record songs from their previously home-recorded CDs. Boston producer Darron Burke took them to his Makeshift Studeios and now "The Bestest" is almost upon us - 11 tracks that are frenetic, choppy, cynical, sharp-edged. (There's also a cover of Neil Young's "Albuquerque," a live staple. ) The official release date is April 24. (Yes, Grubstake was doing this two-person rock band before White Stripes.) They're back in town at P.A.'s Lounge Saturday April 14. They're on at 10. Also on the bill: The In/Out, MFP and the Whiskey Giants. Tickets: $7. 345 Somerville Ave., Somerville, 617-776-1557 paslounge.com
