Tues. Feb. 27 What has Starbucks done for you today? Well, if today is like most of our days they've poured me a lovely 'n' bitter cup o' joe - yeah, like Starbucks would call it that! - and taken a couple of bucks from me in the process. But there's something else they're doing for Bostonians today. They're presenting Low Stars at First Act Guitar Studio, part of their Events series. Who are Low Stars? Four guys whose resume includes stints in Tonic, Gods Child, Jude and Gigolo Aunts (pretty impressive) who do the CSN&Y acoustic thing: four guitars, harmony vocals. Ex-Aunt Dave Gibbs handles lead vocals. Think Californian country-rock. Their album just came out and they've already garnered praise from Roseanne Cash, Tom Morello ("Each member is incredibly talented and yet the whole is still greater than the sum of its formidable parts") and Adam Duritz ("In a world of musical fakers .. the Low Stars are the real thing.").What Starbucks - only the 755 Boylston Street location - is doing is providing free tickets and free beverages for the attendees. (The Low Stars eponymous album can be bought at the stores, too.) The gig takes place Tuesday Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. A nice post-work shift into the evening. 745 Boylston St., 617-226-7923 lowstars.com
