Andrew W.K.: Party Animal on the Prowl Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 February 2007

Tues. Feb. 20

"Let's get the party started! Let's get the party started!" Andrew W.K. hit our consciousness in 2002 with his "I Get Wet" major album debut, essentially a concept album about partying hard. Andrew was almost like the early Ramones in his dedication to a cause, however narrow and hedonistic that cause was. (Hey, we're hardly condemning that here. There's just a degree of humor in such relentlessness. And we didn't even know Andrew had a previous indy release called "Party 'Til You Puke," a take-off no doubt on Root Boy Slim & the Sex Change Band's "Boogie 'Til You Puke," a mid-'70s classic in - well - my dorm room and on WMEB-FM, where I DJ'd.) Andrew has a show promoed by Throwed! at Harpers Ferry Tuesday Feb. 20, with Therefore I Am and A Loss for Words. Also: Dj work from Spencer Sweeney, Chris Devlin, E-Marce, Dimitri and Andrew himself. The whole thing starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10. The promoters do want us to mention Andrew is performing solo, sans band.
