Six Day Slide's One Night Stand Print E-mail
Saturday, 10 February 2007

Sat. Feb. 10

Brothers and rock 'n' roll. The Everlys. The Beach Boys. The Kinks. Venice. Add Six Day Slide, a Boston-based quartet formed by bros singer-guitarist David Fortin and lead guitarist Andrew in 2003. Says David: "Neither of us have any reservations about telling the other one that something isn't going to work of just flat out sucks." Sounds like the Davies brothers or Everly brothers to us, though we're not privy to inside word about fist-fights on stage or anything. Six Day Slide celebrates the release of their first full-length CD, "Lights," on Saturday Feb. 10 at Bill's Bar, with a show that starts at 9 p.m. Six Day Slide is a melodic rock band, with a reasonably upbeat take on life. Yes, David sings ruefully about "the mess I've made" in "City Lights," but there's still a sense of uplift, ultimately. And there's this from "New Day": "I choose to live like tomorrow never comes/I choose to die like tomorrow never comes." Not a bad philosophy. Hard to put into practice, but it doesn't hurt to have a goal, or mantra, or whatever gets you through the night, as John Lennon might put it.McAllister Drive and New Hip Stereo are on Bill's bill too. Tickets: $10.
