Sat. Nov. 10 Walter Beasley has been on the scene for more than two decades and over the past decade became one of the best-selling and most prodigious of African-American artists who do this sort of thing. This means he's not Kenny G and doesn't sell Kenny G kind of numbers, but he's got a whole lot more to offer - old-school, edgy, soulful, melodic, playful sounds. Beasley is a composer, producer and singer as well as being a sax player and in January he releaed his latest disc, "Ready For Love." In the summer, he notched a No. 1 hit on the "Smooth Jazz" charts. "For me, every song on here has special me aning," Beasley says, "and every song touches me in some kind of way. ... I don't go too far from what moves me. I'm just taking it to that place where music moves you just because it's good." Local connection: Yes, Beasley went to Berklee College of Music and teaches there. He plays two shows Friday Saturday Nov. 10 at Scullers Jazz Club, 8 and 10:30. Tickets: $30. OF note: I profiled Beasley in the current Boston edition of Where magazine. You can access it at www.wheremagazine.com and click on Boston. 400 Soldiers Field Rd.,617-562-4111 scullersjazz.com
