Thurs. Dec. 7 Ok, this one's for geeks. Word geeks. Sentence geeks. Back in 8th grade in Orono, Maine Mrs. Archambault taught us sentence diagramming, which proved to be both really boring and ultimately very useful. Kitty Burns Florey has written a book called "Sister Bernadette's Barking Dog" that expounds upon the lost "art" - if that's what it is - of sentence diagramming. We remember it did train us in the schools of words and logic. If you liked "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" - a witty book about grammatical faux pas - you might dig this. Florey reads at the Brookline Booksmith Thursday Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. Free. 279 Harvard St., Brookline, 617-566-6660 brooklinebooksmith.com
