Mon. Dec. 11 Harry Shearer has led a serious life in comedy. He's the voice of Ned Flanders and Mr. Burns ("Excellent!") in "The Simpsons." He wrote for "Saturday Night Live" during one of the heydays. He played the annoyingly faux intellecutal bassist in "This Is Spinal Tap." And he's one of the team of players - which include Eugene Levy, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, among them - who bring you satirical movies like the current one at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, "For Your Consideration." Turns out, Shearer is quite the satirist too, writhing in the Christopher Buckley/Carl Hiaasen mode of near-plausible outrage. Shearer wrote "Not Enough Indians," which has to do with a failing small New York town's attempt to become an Indian tribe in order to - what else? - get licensed to build a cash cow of a casino. This is rich territory. Shearer will be reading and signing the book at the Coolidge at 6 p.m. Monday Dec. 11 and if you want to stay and see the "Consideration" movie at the "membership" price of $6. Tickets at sponsoring Brookline Booksmith, across the street. 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 617-734-2500 coolidge.org, brooklinebooksmith.com
