Wed. March 6 You know him as the rapper and heavy metal rocker who penned the dulcet little ditty "Cop Killer" in 1992 and you know him as Det. Odafa Tutuola on "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit," who started his shift in 200. Oh yeah, savor the irony. The most hated-by-the-mainstream-and-police rap figure of 1992 (and a confessed bank robber) gone fictionally over to other side of the law busting bad guys. You probably don't know him by his birth name, Tracy Morrow, but you do know him by his nom-de-rap Ice-T. Seymour Stein, the owner of the hip Sire Records (which signed him) opined, "He sounds like Bob Dylan." (Ice-T decidedly sounds unlike most of the new Dylans we've had in the past, Loudon Wainwright III, Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile et al., but whatever.) There's also that E Network "reality" show "Ice Loves Coco," where Ice and big-busted wife act up for our benefit. He is a much bawdier dude on reality TV than on "Law and Order" TV, where scowling and sourness are mostly his stock in trade. At any rate, you can see him and hear about all this for yourself - for free - at UMass Boston Wednesday March 6, 3-4 p.m. at the Campus Center Ballroom, third floor. Seats 600. 100 Morrissey Blvd., 617-287-5000 www.umb.edu/
