Sun. July 15 They're calling in The Big Party: Opus Affair = Eastern Standard and what that is is a display of fine arts and the imbibing of speciality cocktails and eating food with music from the Ben Powell Quartet and DJ Ryan Brown. It's a 21st century re-envisioning of the roaring '20s, all at Kenmore Square's Eastern Standard this Sunday July 15 from 1-5 p.m. (Red Sox are out of town, no ballgame crowd worries.) ES owner Garrett Harker's always been a forward-thinking type of leaders and keying on the young professional set - his demo - while honoring five local arts organizations - Young Partners of the Boston Ballet, the Museum Countil from the MFA, H2 from the Handel and Haydn Socity, 35 Below from the Huntington Theatre Company and Young Patrons from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Yes, it's an open bar and fine beverages like Hendrick's gin and Drambuie will be served; oyster apps from sister restaurant Island Creek will be passed, but, you're wondering: Can I play croquet? It's just not a Sunday afternoon in Kemore Square if I can't play croquet. You can. On the Hendrick's Patio. You can also play cards in the Drambuie Parlor. You can pose for photos in the Gallery, watch short silent films in the Screening Room and, of course, take in the jazz. You'll leave with a gift bag of discounts, giveaways and special offers from sponsors and all it costs is $75.
