Nov. 14 Approximately 13 people strong, the Hidden Cameras come down to the Middle East Upstairs from Toronto for a headlining gig Tuesday Nov. 14. It's not just music. You get dancers, costumes and props, too. A tad campy, a bit Scisssor Sister-ish. You might hear some sexually explitic lyrics, though the singer-songwriter Joel Gibb made a point of telling Out magazine they weren't - "That's just a quick way to categorize them. Most people don't bother to look past the surface." Some fans hear Soft Cell and Sparks influences - good references in our world. Best way to describe music is "orchestral pop." Asked about the meaning of the title of their latest CD, "Awoo" (reminds us of "Werewolves of London") Gibb says "it doesn't mean anything" and "it means everything." You decide. They're with Twilight Sad and Spiral Beach. Starts at 9. Tickets: $10. 472 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-864-3278 mideastclub.com
