Fri. June 22 We've sort of come to terms with the idea that as rock bands die/retire/move on their music can, and in some cases, should continue to exist in a concert setting. Which is a slightly skewed way of saying that rock can be like theat er: Just as a Tennessee Williams or Arthur Miller play can be revived and be pertinent and pressing in 2012, so can classc rock 'n' roll from another era, as played by musicians who were weaned on the stuff and want to keep it alive and kicking. There are numerous tribute acts out which is, I suppose, in some ways what Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra is. On Friday June 22 at their usual haunt, the Regent Theatre, Sal Clemente and his merry men and woman are saluting David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust," the glam-rock groundbreaker that put the struggling Bowie over the top and in the spotlight. Bowie famously kissed off Ziggy at the end of a tour, though the character was more or less present in "Diamond Dogs" and "Aladin Sane." The iconic Ziggy hung on with fans who dug the sound and style and wanted it to continue. URO is playing "Ziggy" start to finish - all 38 minutes - for this show. Since 38 minutes does make a show complete, they'll be drawing from their catalog of Who, Beatles, Queen and Zeppelin, too. Starts at 8, tix $25. Bonus: See URO and buy $5 tix to see D.A. Pennebaker's live "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" the next night (June 2) at 7:30. It is that final performance of the tour. Tix: $10. 7 Medford St., Arlignton, 781-646-4849 www.regenttheatre.com
