Mon. June 18 "Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to ... Strawberry Fields." Yes, that place where nothing is real and nothing to be hung about. Ah, the glory days of psychedelia and all those newfangled studio tricks, all done of four-track. The Beatles had certainly given us lots of hints ("Tomorrow Never Knows") that their musical world was going to keep expanding (as the insides of their heads did), but this was certainly a major blast of gleeful post-pop disorientation. (It's also got John at the end saying, "I'm very bored," "Cranberrry sauce" or "I buried Paul" depending on your ears.) On Monday June 18 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, composer-proudcer-engineer Scott Frieman takes Beatles fans new and old on "A Trip Through Strawberry Fields - Deconstructing The Beatles.'' What it is: A multimedia presentation where the aim is to explore the reasons this music continues to be cherished. Using rare audio and video clips, Frieman looks at how "Strawberry Fields" (as well as "Penny Lane" and "A Day in the Life") were created in the studio, from demos to final recordings. This also coincides with Sir Paul McCartney's 70th birthday. Starts at 7:30. Tickets: $15.
