Nov. 17

When former Beach Boy Brian Wilson made his first '90s comeback at Symphony Hall, we saw it and sat there kind of stunned. He seemed waxen, frozen at his keyboard and his high harmony parts were handled by other singers. Later, when we did a year end "awards" piece at the Boston Globe, we gave him the "Best Performance by an Embalmed Person" Award. Was that cruel? Funny? Vicious, but fair? Anyway, from what we can gather Wilson has shown much more life of late - always a good sign as you age - and he (and accompanying) band are playing "Pet Sounds" for what we're told is the "final performance in its entirety." Now, we never believe things like that, just like we believe Cher will never totally retire. But maybe it's true. And if it is, and you treasure those days and that album - and revere the creator of all those classic surfin' tunes - maybe you just oughta drop $75 (or $35 if you're on a low budget) and bask in the past. Bonus: Al Jardine is aboard for this show. It's Friday Nov. 17 and it starts at 7:30 at the Orpheum Theatre.
