Sat. Nov. 19 The punk rock/new wave club Spit was, as many have said, a clubhouse. And young Tommy Nicoletti worked the door for 10 years, the gateway, if you will, to the world of p unk, new wave, goth and beyond. He left a legacy of kindness and friends in Boston and beyond. He became a fixture of the music scene in Boston and help create the cast of characters that made the legend that Spit was. On Saturday Nov. 19, there's a benefit gig/memorial for Tommy, who died June 8 at Cape Heritage Nursing and Rehab in Sandwich. He was battling the injuries he sustained in an automobile accident on Dec. 7, 2009. On stage at the Magic Room Gallery in Brighton will be two bands from the era, Lizzie Borden and the Axes and Shake the Faith as well as current band Five Point. The gig will also remember Abel harris Jr., the Bunratty's doorman who was shot annd killed in 1987. Your $10 goes to benefit the Abel Harris Jr. Scholarship Fund, now in honor of Tommy as well as Abel/ I knew Tommy during those punk years - he had a cool blend of charm and cockiness, a punked-out blond who know the fine lines of working a crowed that thrived of chaos and edginess. When the scene ended, Tommy moved west, to California and Arizona. While living on the west coast he sold Real Estate. Missing the east coast, he eventually moved back and settled on the outer cape in North Truro and Provincetown. He started his own cleaning service = Tommy's Cleaning Service - and was often accompanied by his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Sunny/ 155 N. Beacon St. Brighton, 617-775-4009 www.magicroomgallery.com
