Sat. July 2 Frankly, we feel pretty much the same way about zombies as we do about vampires. Used to love 'em - first "Night of the Living Dead," "Dawn of the Dead," "28 Days" - but n ow that they've taken over pop culture, well, the thrill is less. Perhaps, my zombie interest can be rekindled by a trip to the the Boston Playwrights' Theatre's New Exhibiton Room Saturday July 2 where Emerging Theatre Company Program at the Boston Center for the Arts hosts its 2011 fundraiser: "Zombie Survival Training." What's in store? A reception and a workshop performance of ETC's 2012 zombie double feature. Led by Artistic Directors A. Nora Long and Dawn Meredith Simmons. Upon entering, you get your "survival kit," brave the zombie kissing booth, and see a sneak peak the apocalyptic Zombie Double Feature Project. If you manage to survive training - so goes the hype - you can join them for the after-party at a top secret, but nearby, location Will this help you survive when zombies take over the earth? Well, that's the key question, isn't it? The ECT people say "While we can’t say that if you attend Zombie Survival Training you will survive an apocalyptic event in 2012, we will say that your chances of falling victim to a massive horde of zombies will be greatly reduced." Starts at 7. Tix: $15 in advance and an extra $5 gets you the survival kit. Prices go up $5 day of. 949 Commonwealth Avenue, www.newexhibitionroom.org, http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/182406
