Year 19: Wolf's Mardi Gras Ball Returns to T.T.'s Print E-mail

Musician and artist Shaun Wolf Wortis  manages to pull this spectacle off every year and this is year 18. Boston ain't New Orleans, but we try sometimes, and this is Wolf's 18th Annual Mardi Gras Ball," an R&B revue show and benefit for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic at T.T. the Bear's Place Saturday Feb. 18.
   Previous guests of the Mardi Gras Ball have included everyone from Tanya Donelly to Holly Brewer  to Gary Charone toJenny Dee and the Deelinquents Bleu. This year, the guests are Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents (in photo), Tim Gearan, Jordan Valentine, Jesse Dee, Weisstronauts and the Boston Babydolls. Year 2 for the Dolls, modern burlesque this with the gals doing what they do best. doing what they do best. The house band, the Krew, will lead romps through a high-energy set of old New Orleans rhythm & blues music, some jazz-era tunes, and some sing-along "Indian" romps. At the moment, the Krew is guitarist-singer Wortis, of course, with Paul Ahlstrand (tenor sax), Scott Aruda (trumpet), Ducky Carlisle (drums), Phil Clements (piano), Ken Field (alto sax), Marc Hickox (bass), Mark Sanchez (trumpet), Rusty Scott (Hammond organ, Joe Stewart (trombone) and Chandler Travis (guitar). Expect to hear Oliver Morgan's "Who Shot the La La," The Lollipops "I Got Loaded" and the Pelicans' "Drunk Drunk Drunk." There will be ar raffle of a new Campbelll American electric guitar (value $2500). Proceeds all go toe the New Orleans Musicians Clinic.
