The Christmas dance program is coming next month and we all know what that means: big Christmas trees and little children. If you're into something just a little more adventurous and on a smaller scale, Green Street Studios is staging "CriticalMoves: New Contemporary Dance Works" on Nov. 17 and 18. Six acts - solo or duo - take the stage, beginning at 8 p.m. You'll see Ruth Bronwen meld classical, modern and balletic movements with - as they say - "uncodified" textures to the late Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah." Ryuji Yamaguchi performs to solos, "Self-Portrait" and "Retrea," the former influcesed by the Buddhist Lotus Sutra and the latter depicting a man in distress seeking sanctuary. (An industrial sized fan will blow toward the dancer and the audience.) Eric Gottwald and Kate Digby of Digby Dance explore balance, emotion, gravity and soul, dancing to Mozart's B Minor adagio for solo piano. Should be ethereal. Two members of Kairos Dance Theatre, Ingrid Schatz and DeAnna Pellecchia explore female aggression - appearing cheerful on the outside and feeling rang and anger inside. There's lots more to a program that promises to be stimulating in numerous ways. Tickets: $18
