Sunday Nov. 12

Comic and political commentator Jimmy Tingle once again takes the stage at his own theater, Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway, but he's serving as the host, not the main attraction, at the Somerville News Writers Festival IV. Co-sponsored by Grub Street Writers and Porter Square Books, the Nov. 12 event features readings by 12 writers, half fiction writers, half poets. Among the writers, Michael McGlone (best-known perhaps for acting in "The Brothers McMullen" and "She's the One." He's also a singer-songwriter and fiction writer. He'll be reading excerpts from his soon-to-be-released "And All the Roses Dying ..." Also included in Nick Flynn, who'll read from his memoir "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City," which is being adapted for tilm by Paul ("About a Boy," "American Pie") Weitz. Lisa Carver of Nerve.com will contritue "Drugs are Nice: A Post-Punk Memoir." And there's lots more. There should be humor and grit, all mixed up nice. Starts at 7 p.m. Tickets: $15.
