Aug 06, 2010 at 12:00 AM

Fri. Aug. 6

The 15th anniversary of Jerry Garcia's death is upon us - Aug. 9, he would have been 68 - and when celebrations happen on death-day anniversaries we Jerry Garciaalways feel something's off. Birthdays, sure. Death days? Are you celebrating this person's exit from this mortal coil? Well, you're not certainly and frankly you're pegging an occasion to play the artist's work to a significant date. Raise the memory of the dear departed. And so, Jerry will be there in spirit at the tribute show the Jam Stampede, featuring members of the Zen Tricksters, is kicking up Cap'n Trips catalog at the Village Smokehouse in Lowell Friday Aug. 6. Expect music from the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, New Riders, Hot Tuna and other music that Jerry Garcia created and influenced. (This could be endless, like a Dead jam.) Starts at 9, costs $10. Barbecue and drinks available of course.
