Sun. Nov. 19

Names. You gotta love rock band and band member names. We won't go into the long litany, but just consider Lolly Pop & the Couture Club, a Minneapolis electro-funk band fronted by Lolly - discovered by Dr. Fink (from Prince and the Revolution) and Monte Moir. (Love the "Couture Club" part.) Lolly is joined by singers Mr. Jeffrey and Howard Hughes III. Rockwell Fairbanks handles keyboards and background vocals. Just a whiff of faux weatlh - and real tongue-in-cheek fun - in there. They like to call what they do an "electro-pop-soap operetta" and be considered in the company of the Scissor Sisters. They're headlining at P.A.s Lounge. Joining them, the very compatible Boston band, Lovewhip, where synth pop, rocking guitar lines and funky drums serve as the basis for Empress Erin's vocals. Not a sit-down show. Starts at 9 p.m. Tickets: $7.
