London Calling from Boston Harbor PDF Print E-mail
Jul 02, 2010 at 12:00 AM

Fri. July 2

A lot of veteran rock bands - Buzzcocks, Cheap Trick, Pixies - have done that "we're playing the entire album for you" bit when they've played concerts. Bit of a gDestroy Babylonimmick, sure, but a neat one. Takes you back to a classic record and you replay your memories as they play it out live. What do you do when there is no band to do this? That is, the band in question is long defunct, one member dead, others elsewhere. That would be the Clash and the band that's picked up the mantle is Destroy Babylon (certainly a Clash-approved moniker if there ever was) and they're doing "London Calling" start to finish on Friday July 2. It's one of those smoke on the water affairs, boarding beginning at Rowes Wharf at 7:15, departure at 8. These cruises are a specialty of Boston rock promoter Dan Millen's Rock On! Concerts and he's got a pretty wide variety of talent aboard this year. Tickets are $25. You can park for $7 at the International Place Garage across the street. (Get your parking pass stamped at the Cruise box office.) Opening act: Macrotones.
