Obama: Is His Presidency In Peril? Is the Rapture Coming Any Day Now? PDF Print E-mail
Jun 03, 2010 at 12:00 AM

Thurs. June 3

"The Presidency in Peril." That's the topic for a breakfast discussion helmed by Robert Kuttner (in photo) and Wendy Ballinger Thursday, June 3, at 8:00-9:00 am at Suffolk University Law School. Presidency in Peril?" I thought. Is it, really? One and half years in. Well, Obama has been slammed hard from the left for caving in to Wall Street, wussing out on universal health care and not living up to promises made on the campaign trail and from the right for being that foreign-born Muslim socialist we all know he secretly is, with the possibility that he may be the AntiChrist. (A lot of polls really do suggest people believe this crap. Of course, there are people screaming they don't want the government to touch their medicare too. It's a wonderful country.) Maybe it is in peril. But hasn't every presidency in memory been in some degree of peril. I guess what's going on now is the Internet-fed level of viciousness on the blogs and comment posts and the fact that the public hostility level has ratcheRobert Kuttnerted up to the red zone. Civility? A thing of the past.
At any rate, the Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University presents this discussion with Kuttner, co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect, Demos Distinguished Senior Fellow, and liberal columnist for the Globe and Ballinger, founder of Ballinger Consulting and they will talk about trade,  efficiency, and the challenge of regulating global capitalism.. It's free plus you get a light breakfast too! (Downside: It's at 8 and in my world, that's just a few hours after bedtime. But maybe not in yours.) This talk concludes the spring 2010 Ford Hall Forum Series. It's back in the fall.
