Electric Mummification at Cantabl Lounge PDF Print E-mail
Mar 26, 2011 at 01:03 PM

Sat. March 26

Electric Mummy holds rites at the Cantab Lounge Saturday March 26 Who is Electric Mummy? Well, in a nod to the Cramps, Ramones, Sex Pistols or anybody else who's embraced made-up names, the Boston-based quintet consists of Dead Ringer, Dead Man Rockin (in photo)', Dead Sexy (in photo), Dead Serious and Dead Beat.  Who's who, really? Dead Sexy - Harmony Vocals - real name: Amanda Schafer;  Dead Serious - Bass - real name: Shaun Clarke; Dead Beat - Drums - real name: Tom Woundy; Dead Man Rocking - Lead Guitar - real name: Daniel DeLay; Dead Body - Lead Vocals - real nElectric Mummyame: Gabriel Florit. More at www.electricmummy.com

Electric Mummy lists Ramones, Dead Ringer and David Bowie as influences and, yes, you can kind of hear that: some riffage, some metal-y hooks, a touch of glam. Here's how they put their ethos: "Seeking everlasting life, through mysterious electrical scientific experimentation, these Mummy rockers have come out with a new swagger (more like a stagger or a stumble than an actual swagger).  With their souls now damned for all time and their sins never to be forgiven, there is nothing to hold them back from throwing off all their wrappings and exposing their decaying flesh to the world.Often confused with ghosts, or even called Space Aliens, these mummies are perpetually plagued with cases of The Rot.  If one looks closely, the tell-tale signs of The Rot can be seen from stage, and yes, it is wildly contagious. Fans that come to see Electric Mummy are invited to partake in the now infamous Mummification Ritual.  While not quite the same as becoming an Electric Mummy, fans are frequently left with an impression on their minds that's not soon to fade."

Your headliner is Black Tape for a Blue Girl. Also on: What Time Is it, Mr. Fox and Amber Spyglasss. Doors at 8. Tix: $10.
