New Bad Boys of Boston Tackle Aerosmith's Catalog at Middle East Print E-mail
Jan 10, 2010 at 12:00 AM

 Sun. Jan. 10

Now, we're not going to make any claims for mandatory retirement for rock 'n' rollers. Last we noticed, the clock was ticking on all of us, and we all want to do what makes sense for us as long as we can. Right? So, we're not saying the troubled Boston band Aerosmith should pack it in. There were rumors that Steven Tyler has left or is already gone - and then he jumps on stage with the Joe Perry Project and plays "Walk This Way" in New York, declaring himself still with the band., dammit! But he has separate management; he has a dressing room down the hall from the rest when they play and it's clearly not a happy camp. The rumor mill spins out tales that Tyler's reverted back to some of the nasty habits all five band members kicked - a move which faciliated their comeback. But even aside from l'affaire du Tyler, the band members have battled various illnesses and setbacks and ... well, what we're saying is that if you're a fan of the band, and you think what Aerosmith does/did best was play cocky music for the youth of America, maybe you'll want to check out some of those youths - products of the Watertown branch of The Paul Green School of Rock Boston has a crew ready to play out as an Aerosmith tribute band. We don't know exactly how old this crop of bassists, guitarists, keyboardists, drummers, and singer is, but Green takes kids 6 to 17.

On Sunday, Jan. 10th the Green kids play a 1:00 pm all-ages matinee.  Expect to hear such standards as "Dream On", "Ragdoll", "Janie's Got A Gun", and "Toys In The Attic". We're not sure if they're allowed to sing "Big 10 Inch Record." Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door day-of-show.
